Bottle Washing Basics
It is important that bottlers wash their bottles very carefully prior to filling. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) industry standards require that all bottles be washed to strict standards. Other countries have regulations of their own, of course. It is important that you know the standards in your area of operation. It’s also important to know what you should be looking for in a quality, efficient bottle washer, whether you’re bottling small bottles, large bottles or a combination of the two. Norland International vice president Bruce Kucera has written a comprehensive article on the basics of bottle washing. To read this important article, click here.

IBWA Members Assist Hurricane-stricken Texas and Louisiana
ALEXANDRIA, VA— International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) members have so far donated more than one million bottled water servings to assist with Hurricane Ike relief efforts in Texas and Louisiana. This number is expected to grow this week as IBWA bottlers, many of which are small mom and pop businesses, continue to dispatch their product to fulfill the growing demand for safe drinking water in storm ravaged coastal areas.
